BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — U.S. Sen. Luther Strange and challenger Roy Moore will face off in a candidate forum ahead of next month’s Republican runoff.
The Alabama Policy Institute and Samford University are hosting the event on the university’s campus in suburban Birmingham on Sept. 21.
Strange and Moore are seeking the Senate seat previously held by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
Strange was appointed to the post on an interim basis. Moore is the state’s former chief justice. He resigned to seek the Senate seat after being suspended for the remainder of his term.
The Republican runoff is Sept. 26. The winner will face Democrat Doug Jones in December.
The forum is free and open to the public.
