Averil Lynn Axsom

NOBLESVILLE, INDIANA

Averil Lynn Axsom, 62, of Noblesville and formerly of Columbus, died on Sunday, August 20, 2017, at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.

Mr. Axsom was a United States Army Veteran. He had retired from Dorel Juvenile Group and enjoyed playing cards.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver, & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.

Family and friends may call from 2:30 p.m. to time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Military honors will be conducted by Bartholomew County Honor Guard at the funeral home.

In keeping with Mr. Axsom’s wishes, cremation is planned following services.

Averil was born on October 1, 1954, in Columbus, the son of Opal and Ernestine Vivian McHargue Axsom.

On November 7, 2012, he married Julie E. Sierra.

Survivors include his wife, Julie E. Axsom of Noblesville; children, Paul Axsom of Louisville and Ariel Axsom of Columbus; stepchildren, Stephania Pfeiffer and Andres Trujillo of Noblesville; grandson, Trendon Axsom of Louisville; siblings, Ruth (Ron) Moffatt of Columbus, Opal (Jerry) Bebout of North Vernon, Betty Goddard of Greenwood, Valerie Jost of Columbus, Gerald Axsom of North Vernon, Michael Axsom of Columbus and Roger Axsom of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, John Axsom and Linnie Axsom.
