Eagles blank Cougars

NASHVILLE — Brown County won four matches in straight sets Wednesday to pick up its first victory of the season, a 4-1 triumph against Trinity Lutheran.

Chase Watson beat Bailey Baker 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, and Aaron McCann downed Jace Crockett 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for the Eagles (1-4). Abe Oliver and Aiden Burt topped Avery Schwipps and Pierce McCammon 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, and Elijah Roush and Nathaniel Fox beat Caleb Gruenwald and Noah Voelker 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

The win for the Cougars (1-3) came at No. 3 singles, where Matt Stuckwisch beat Nolan Patterson 6-1, 6-2.

Panthers down Warriors

NORTH VERNON — Peyton Whitehead won medalist honors with a 43 to lead Jennings County to a 199-227 win against Scottsburg at St. Annes.

Allie Clark carded a 48 for the Panthers. Sydney Campbell added a 50, Rachel Greene shot 58, Destiny Joray had a 61 and Annie Ertel finished with a 63.

Eagles take second

CLAYTON — Ashley Masteller won medalist honors with 44 to lead Brown County to a second-place finish in a tri match at Deer Creek. Host Monrovia won with a 201 to 209 for the Eagles and 241 for South Putnam.

Aubrey Hollander carded a 54 for the Eagles. Lauren Burker added a 55, Taylor Poling shot 56, Meghan Cassiday had a 57, Allison Stogsdill finished with a 62, Meg Smith shot 66 and Courtney Hill had a 69.
