HAMILTON, Mont. — The director of Montana’s Department of Natural Resources and Conservation says he has fired Bob Harrington as state forester.
John Tubbs says Harrington was placed on paid administrative leave in May and fired in mid-August. He declined to give a reason other than “personnel reasons.”
Harrington’s attorney, Jill Gerdrum, tells the Ravalli Republic (http://bit.ly/2w7JEej ) the decision isn’t final. Harrington has been state forester for 15 years.
The DNRC has named Sue Clark as acting state forester. She is also the chief financial officer for the forestry division.
The forestry division of DNRC plans and implements forestry and fire management programs, helps private landowners manage forested lands and responds to wildfires, inspect pests and diseases while advocating for sustainable forest management practices.
