BATH, N.Y. — A New York woman has been convicted of murder for setting fire to the upstate home of a man who died in the blaze.

The Star-Gazette of Elmira reports ( ) a Steuben (stoo-BEHN’) County jury needed less than three hours Tuesday to convict 38-year-old Iryn Meyers, of Wayland, on charges that included second-degree murder and arson.

Authorities she and her husband, 45-year-old Joseph Meyers, killed David O’Dell by setting fire to his Wayland home in February 2016. Prosecutors say the couple killed O’Dell to collect more than $140,000 in insurance money.

Joseph Meyers was convicted of first-degree murder last May. He’s serving 23 years to life in prison.

His wife faces a minimum of 15 years to life and a maximum of 25 years to life when she’s sentenced Oct. 18.
