PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia police believe an 11-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the face with a gun he found in his parents’ bedroom.

Police say someone drove the boy in a private vehicle to Methodist Hospital where police were notified. The boy was then taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where he was listed in critical condition before being upgraded to stable. Police say he’s expected to survive.

The boy’s parents and four siblings were home when he was shot. The boy’s oldest sibling is 13.
