BELLEFONTE, Pa. — A Pennsylvania man charged with ambushing and fatally shooting the husband of a woman who police say the suspect was having an affair with is heading toward a criminal trial.

Thirty-seven-year-old Matthew Dreibelbis was bound over after a preliminary hearing on murder charges. The Centre Daily Times reports ( ) he is charged with fatally shooting his Bellefonte neighbor, 38-year-old Jeremy Cantolina, during the early hours of Aug. 11.

A state criminal investigator testified Wednesday saying Dreibelbis was having an affair with Cantolina’s wife — an affair that resulted in a child born in 2015. The investigator says Dreibelbis had threatened Cantolina in multiple conversations with the wife.

Dreibelbis remains in custody with no bail.

District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller says the case is still under investigation.
