ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Authorities have identified the pilot who died in a plane crash in Alaska as an Anchorage resident.

Alaska State Troopers say 35-year-old Jason Walkush was the pilot of the plane, whose wreckage was found earlier this week near Chakachamna Lake, about 50 miles west of the village of Tyonek (tie-OH’-neck).

A search for the plane was launched after responders received an emergency locator beacon alert late Wednesday night.

Troopers say the National Transportation Safety Board was among responders at the scene.
