SOMERSET, Ky. — Authorities say the death of a 70-year-old woman who was found inside of a Kentucky church is being investigated as a homicide.

News outlets report the pastor of Denham Street Baptist Church found the body of Ruthie Carolyn New in a fellowship hall on Thursday afternoon. She was reported missing 30 minutes prior to her body being found in the Somerset church.

Pulaski County Coroner Clyde Strunk says New was a custodian at the church and was constantly in the vicinity.

Further details have not been released.
