NEW YORK — A New York Police Department dog injured in the line of duty is back on the job.

The Staten Island Advance (http://bit.ly/2wEyeli ) says Timmy — formally named Timoshenko — is doing well after having eight stitches removed from his paw.

The German shepherd fell through a ceiling on Aug. 10 while searching an attic during a Brooklyn raid that yielded several weapons, including an assault rifle.

The K9 is named for Detective Russel Timoshenko, who died in the line of duty in 2007.
