COLUMBUS, Indiana — A Columbus man was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance after investigators used a search warrant to find methamphetamine, heroin, marijuana and other drugs at his east side home, police said.
The Bartholomew County Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team and Indiana State Police arrested Stanley D. Edelen, 56, of 1415 Azelea Drive on Friday night after securing a search warrant and discovering more than a pound of methamphetamine with a street value of $50,000, heroin, marijuana, ecstasy pills, multiple controlled substances, large amounts of drug paraphernalia, scales, large amounts of packaging material and several firearms in his home, Sheriff Matt Myers said.
Investigators also arrested a second man, Dexter R. Pigg, 64, of Columbus, who was observed leaving the Azelea Drive address before the search warrant could be executed, Myers said. Pigg was pulled over on a motorcycle by officers from the Columbus Police Department and Indiana State Police and arrested on a charge of operating his vehicle as a habitual traffic violator, the sheriff said.
As the investigation continued, additional charges were added for Pigg. They are dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, possession of a controlled substance , possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance, Myers said.
