NORTH HAVERHILL, N.H. — A 30-year-old New Hampshire man is going to prison for a minimum of 15 years after he pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the beating death of a friend.

Thomas Corliss entered the plea Friday in North Haverhill for beating to death 60-year-old Todd Downing last November.

Prosecutors say Corliss drove to Downing’s house in Wentworthr to pick up his girlfriend. She was crying in the driveway when Corliss arrived and Corliss thought she might have been assaulted. Downing was then attacked.

WMUR-TV ( ) reports that in court Friday, Downing took full responsibility for his actions and he apologized to the Downing family.

The victim’s wife Jayme Corliss says she hopes everyone involved can “come together and forgive” to “give us all peace.”
