Barbara A. (Cory) Voelz, 83, of Columbus, passed from this life at 3:40 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2017, at Four Seasons Health Care Center.

Barbara’s family was her number one interest. She always enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and Jack took their grandchildren on many trips when they were growing up.

After retiring from Irwin Management where she was a personal assistant to Mrs. J. Irwin Miller and her family, Barbara worked as a security guard at Cummins Engine Company and as a crossing guard for the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp.

She volunteered at Columbus Regional Hospital, the Columbus Indiana Architectural Archives, and the USO at Camp Atterbury.

She was a member of First Christian Church for over 70 years and always enjoyed her involvement with her friends there and especially her 3M’s Class and her widows group.

She enjoyed playing euchre and dominoes every month and her Saturday morning breakfast each week with friends for many years.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Vicki (Eddie) Barr and Vanessa (Tom) Keener; grandchildren, Kimberli (Matt) Johnson, Benjamin (Hali) Wever, Nathan Barr, and Matthew (Stacia) Barr; great-grandchildren, Alaina Baker, Daniel and Noah Johnson, and Cameron Barr; a niece, Carolyn Cory; and a nephew, Rex Cory.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Jack G. Voelz; her parents, Rex and Virginia Cory; and a brother, Jim Cory.

In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, her body was donated to the Anatomical Education Program of the Indiana University School of Medicine.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, September 3rd, 2017, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Larry Tingle officiating.

Family and friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
