Moisture from Hurricane Andrew moved into southern Indiana bringing heavy rainfall with it and prompting flash flood watches for the city and areas of the state south of the Columbus area.

Fire-alarm boxes downtown were set ablaze by the fire department to burn off the “Fire” decals before repainting them.
