GREENVILLE, S.C. — A company has abruptly closed its South Carolina headquarters after moving from New York two years ago, leaving 140 people jobless.
Local media outlets report WYNIT Distribution in downtown Greenville closed Friday without warning.
The company’s chief operating officer, Pete Richichi, said in a release that WYNIT decided to reorganize and close its wholesale distribution division. The 30-year-old company announced in November 2015 it was relocating from Syracuse, New York.
Richichi cited “unexpected financial issues combined with a disappointing holiday selling season.”
The company is a wholesale distributor of technology products from companies including Fitbit, Canon, Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard. It serves retail giants such as Target and Wal-Mart.
Richichi says the company is maintaining two other divisions located in Minnesota.
