Second Drink-In at 25th Street Ricker’s store today in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Indiana — The chairman of the Anderson-based Ricker’s convenience store chain will participate in a second “Drink-In” at the 25th Street Ricker’s store in Columbus.

Jay Ricker and Tim Maguire, chairman of the Libertarian Party of Indiana, will greet other participants from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the store.

A similar event hosted by the Libertarian Party was held at the 25th Street store in June.

Ricker wants to continue being able to sell cold beer for carryout at his 25th Street store and at another location in Sheridan. A change in the state law, House Bill 1496 which took effect July 1, is likely to prevent Ricker’s business model from continuing after his license expires in April, he said. However, a legislative study committee will be reviewing Indiana’s liquor laws and potential changes.
