GREENWOOD, Ark. — A police officer in western Arkansas who oversees the testing of suspected drunken drivers has been suspended after being arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Greenwood Police Chief Will Dawson told reporters Monday that Officer Regan Whitworth has been suspended indefinitely after being arrested Sunday following a vehicle crash near Lavaca.

The police department’s website says Whitworth was the department’s Officer of the Year in 2015 and oversees all operations of breath alcohol testing.

Greenwood is south of Fort Smith, about 115 miles (185 kilometers) west of Little Rock.
