Bear Wallow Distillery pops a top

GNAW BONE — We all know corn isn’t just for eating. But for drinking?

Yes, it’s good for that, too.

Every day, Bear Wallow Distillery in Brown County shows how it’s done.

The Farm-to-Fifth Tour walks visitors through the process of making Indiana Corn Whiskey from local grains, using an old-fashioned copper-pot still.

The distillery, one of the first in Indiana, is open every day for tours and tastings of products such as the Moonshine Shake-up. It was chosen as the Indiana State Fair’s signature cocktail.

The business also sells an “eat your whiskey” selection of goods made with Bear Wallow products, which include rye, moonshine, bourbon and other styles of whiskey.

Children are welcome on all tours and to sip on one of Bear Wallow’s non-alcoholic offerings.
