SEYMOUR
Janet L. Weekly, 81, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017, at Lutheran Community Home, Seymour. Janet was born on November 2, 1935, in Seymour, Indiana, the daughter of William and Bessie Sweazy Sutherland, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Robert Gene Weekly on June 12, 1953, at Central Christian Church in Seymour. He preceded her in death in 2012.
Janet was a 1953 graduate of Shields High School, worked as an administrative assistant at Montgomery, Elsner and Pardieck and retired from Blue and Company, as office manager, after 25 years of service.
Janet was a devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, where she sang in the choir and served with the Ladies Aid, assisting with funeral meals.
Music brought Janet much joy in her life, through singing, listening and performing. She played piano and gave voice lessons. She also had a creative gift for crafting and enjoyed teaching others. Her grandchildren became the apple of her eye when they arrived but her husband was the love of her life.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Sueko) Weekly, and daughter, Brenda (James) Vogel; 3 grandchildren, Christiana Lydia, Elizabeth Anne and James Michael Vogel; and several nephews and one niece.
In addition to her parents and husband, a sister, LaDonna Hillenberg, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 31, at 12 p.m. with the Revs. Philip Bloch, Ralph Blomenberg and James Rodriguez officiating at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Visitation will held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of service.
