Man revived after drug overdose, arrested

A Columbus man revived by police officers with a drug overdose antidote is in jail on two preliminary arrest charges.

Michael A. Dunham, 29, of 8161 E. Rockwood St., is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $13,500 bond on charges of possession of marijuana and a Bartholomew County arrest warrant, jail officials said.

At about 8:45 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a residence in the 1300 block of Cottage Avenue after receiving a report of an overdose, said officer Alyson Rech, Columbus Police Department spokesperson.

When officers arrived, they located Dunham, who was unresponsive and had shallow breathing, and administered two doses of naloxone, she said.

Dunham regained consciousness a short time later, she said.

While on scene, officers confirmed that a warrant for Dunham existed in Bartholomew County, Rech said. Dunham was searched, and a small baggie containing marijuana was located in his pockets, she said.

Dunham was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment before he was transported to the jail, Rech said.
