PHOENIX — Authorities say they are working to recover a body found in a pond at Papago Park outside the Phoenix Zoo.

Phoenix Fire Department officials say the body had been in the water for an unknown period of time.

Firefighters were called to the area Thursday morning to recover the body, which was in a pond outside of the zoo’s main entrance.

Authorities didn’t immediately release the gender of the body.

Phoenix police say they will be conducting an investigation into the death.
