LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Police are investigating a shooting that occurred near a college campus in Kentucky and left one victim “in serious condition.”

Local news outlets report the shooting happened Wednesday shortly before 7 p.m. near the University of Louisville campus.

Louisville Metro Police spokesman Vadim Dale says detectives were flagged down and alerted to an “altercation” at an apartment complex. The detectives were led to a man with gunshot wounds in his abdomen.

University spokesman John Karman says an alert about the shooting went out to students around 7:45 p.m. Karman says police have two suspects in custody in connection with the shooting, which the Courier-Journal reports LMPD didn’t immediately confirm.

Dale says the LMPD Homicide Unit is investigating and the University of Louisville police are assisting. Further information hasn’t been released.
