ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A 60-year-old parolee accused of beating a liquor store owner to death with a wine bottle during a robbery has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.

Kevin Quander entered the plea Thursday in the March killing of Charlotte Lahr at her store in Rochester.

Authorities say Lahr was beaten to death after resisting Quander’s attempt to rob the store. Quander was arrested the next day.

He also pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted robbery

Quander faces a minimum of 36 years in prison when he is sentenced Oct. 5.
