PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Fire & Rescue says a private school in southwest Portland has been damaged in a fire.

Lt. Damon Simmons says crews responded to The International School at 2:43 a.m. Thursday.

He says the fire ignited in or near a trash bin and spread into the building. Crews quickly extinguished the flames, but the fire damaged the school’s electrical supply.

A fire investigator is trying to determine the cause. There were no injuries.
