MUNCIE, Ind. — Muncie police say a family feud led to the shooting death of a 17-year-old girl by a relative who testified against her brother in a 2016 armed home invasion.

Capt. Joe Todd said Friday that family members supportive of Deshaun Jackson were angry at 43-year-old home invasion victim Marilyn Wilson for testifying against him at his trial.

After the 20-year-old Jackson was sentenced to 25 years Thursday, his supporters surrounded Wilson’s car. Todd says his sister, Allayzia Jackson, reached inside and started throwing punches at Wilson, who shot Allayzia Jackson in the chest. The girl was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The Star Press reports officers say Wilson went to City Hall afterward and told them she fired in self-defense. She was released from custody pending the case’s review.
