HICKORY, N.C. — Two men have been arrested in a shooting at a North Carolina apartment complex that killed two people.

Hickory police spokeswoman Chrystal Dieter said in a news release that 20-year-old Daniel Jeremiah Minton of Lenoir turned himself in to police in Lenoir on Friday and has been charged with murder.

Dieter says 20-year-old Maurice Craig Brown of Lenoir has been arrested and charged as an accessory.

The spokeswoman said officers were called around 4 p.m. Thursday and found 18-year-old Branique Stephan McKnight of Conover and 20-year-old Janarion Kaverio Knox of Hickory dead in an apartment.

A witness had told investigators he heard seven gunshots and saw a car leave.

Minton and Brown are being held in the Catawba County jail. It was not known if they have attorneys.
