LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A first-degree murder charge has been filed against a 31-year-old Arkansas man in the death of his wife.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that Terry Dale Marshall Jr. was charged on Friday in the death of his wife, 31-year-old Brittany Marshall.

Police officers in Batesville found the victim’s body on Thursday in the bed of a truck at a business near the White River Juvenile Detention Center. Authorities did not reveal how the woman was killed.

Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens says investigators went to Brittany Marshall’s home in Drasco in eastern Cleburne County and found evidence that the slaying had occurred in the house.

Cleburne County Sheriff Chris Brown says investigators identified the victim’s body and later arrested Terry Marshall Jr.

Marshall is being held in the Independence County Jail.
