FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — County leaders are considering a change in parking rules to limit the number of cars on the road during the winter season in Flagstaff when people from Phoenix and beyond flock to the city to play in the snow.

The Arizona Daily Sun reported (http://bit.ly/2gsAcuI ) Thursday that the Coconino County Board of Supervisors is considering amending its seasonal parking ordinance to make it illegal to park on certain county rights of way during winter months.

Supervisor Art Babbott says the idea came out of community discussions about snow-play gridlock as well as discussions with law enforcement.

He says the parking ban would coordinate with new signs being placed along Highway 180 by the Arizona Department of Transportation. The signs discourage parking along the road shoulder.
