JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — Authorities say a man who had been placed on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s most wanted list has been arrested in Louisiana.

The bureau says 25-year-old Jarret Cole Heitmann was arrested Thursday by police in New Orleans in connection with a shoplifting incident at a business. He is being held in the Orleans Parish Jail in Louisiana.

Heitmann had been sought by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee on charges including attempted murder and especially aggravated robbery after a June 20 shooting in Kingsport.

Authorities say he also is facing a charge of kidnapping in Hawkins County in Tennessee. His girlfriend is wanted by authorities in connection with that case.

It was not immediately clear Saturday if Heitmann had a lawyer or when he will be returned to Tennessee.
