SILVERDALE, Wash. — The driver who officials say struck and killed a jogger in a Silverdale, Washington in March is under arrest.
KING TV reports (http://kng5.tv/2vUz74A ) that Scott Brian Rehmus of East Bremerton was booked into the Kitsap County Jail Friday on a vehicular homicide charge in the death of Emerald Heights Elementary School teacher Amy Marie Higgins.
Kitsap County Sheriff investigators say Rehmus had pot in his system and was speeding at the time of the crash.
Officials claim Higgins was in a crosswalk when Rehmus hit her. She died at the scene.
Officials say Rehmus had a duty to stop and admitted to being distracted at the time.
Rehmus gave a voluntary blood sample, which tested positive for marijuana above the legal limit.
He’s being held on $250,000 bail and is expected to go before a judge on Tuesday.
