ST. LOUIS — At least one man has been charged with shooting and wounding two St. Louis police officers in an attack that also left a 24-year-old woman in critical condition.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that a 24-year-old man was charged Saturday with three counts of first-degree assault and several related charges in connection with Friday’s shooting.

Police said a second man who was taken into custody was not charged in the shooting.

Authorities say the man opened fire on the two officers in an unmarked car Friday after they recognized him. Both officers were wounded, and a stray shot hit a 24-year-old woman in a neighboring house.

The officers have been released from the hospital. The injured woman was in critical condition, but police didn’t update her condition Sunday.
