OCEAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. — State police say a single-vehicle crash on the Garden State Parkway has left a man dead and a woman seriously injured.

The accident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, when the southbound SUV driven by Daniel Forrest went off the roadway near milepost 69.9 in Ocean Township. It then struck several trees and caught fire.

The 35-year-old Barnegat man was pronounced dead a short time later. His passenger, 37-year-old Kelly Jarossy of Beachwood, suffered undisclosed injuries and remained hospitalized on Sunday.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
