FORT PAYNE, Ala. — Authorities in Alabama are investigating the discovery of a dead body in a field.

WHNT-TV reports the body was found Sunday afternoon in DeKalb County, about 65 miles east of Huntsville.

DeKalb County Deputy Coroner Bruce Wilson confirmed the body was found off County Road 592. He said an autopsy had been ordered to determine the cause of death.

Officials did not immediately release the name of the person found dead. Wilson said authorities were working to notify the person’s family first.
