SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Police say a gunman opened fire after an argument in the parking lot of a Southern California hospital but no one was struck by the gunfire.

San Bernardino Police Lt. Mike Madden says it happened Monday afternoon outside of the emergency room at Community Hospital of San Bernardino.

Madden says two men had been arguing inside the emergency room and the argument escalated outside. He says one of the men pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the other.

Madden says one was hit and both of the men had fled the scene before police arrived. He says police are still investigating but no arrests have been made.

Hospital spokeswoman Christina Zicklin says the hospital had been placed on a brief lockdown but normal operations have resumed.
