WILMINGTON, Del. — Police in Wilmington are investigating the death of a 19-year-old as a homicide.

The Wilmington Police Department said in a statement late Sunday night that officers responded to a report of gunfire and found the man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his torso.

The victim was treated at the scene and transported to a hospital, where he died.

Police say the investigation is in the preliminary stages. The man wasn’t immediately identified.
