BARRINGTON, N.H. — The United States Postal Service is honoring a New Hampshire man who has spent six decades working at Calef’s Country Store in Barrington.

The postal service is commemorating Joel Sherburne’s tenure at the store with a keepsake picture postmark at the Barrington Post Office. Those who send mail from the post office on Thursday can get it marked with an image of a wheel of cheese and text commemorating Sherburne’s anniversary instead of the usual circles and bars.

Calef’s opened in 1869. Sherburne started in 1957 stocking shelves and bagging groceries.

Those who can’t make it on Thursday but still want the postmark can send a mail order request in the next month.
