PHILADELPHIA — Railroad officials say an Amtrak train has struck and killed a person walking on the tracks in Philadelphia.

Philly.com reports (http://bit.ly/2x4ccca ) the person was struck in the city’s Torresdale section around 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Amtrak says the victim was hit by a Northeast Regional train on its way to New York City. None of the crew members or 296 passengers aboard suffered injuries.

The person’s name and hometown have not been made public.
