ALDIE, Va. — A man has been arrested after authorities say he fired a gun during a music festival in northern Virginia and aimed the weapon at private security officers.

A statement Monday from the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office says 33-year-old Charles E. Crowley was reportedly involved in disorderly conduct at an event Sunday in Aldie described as a “privately held” music festival.

The statement says Crowley got into a physical struggle with security officers and fired a gun. It also says he pointed the gun at officers and attempted to fire it, but it jammed.

Crowley was detained and taken into custody.

The Shanks, West Virginia, man is charged with attempted second-degree murder and willfully discharging firearms in public places. He’s being held without bond.

It wasn’t immediately clear Monday if he has an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
