NAMPA, Idaho — Residents at several Nampa homes were told to evacuate after a car crashed into a house and severed a gas line.

KTVB-TV reports ( ) the vehicle, which crashed around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, plowed through a kitchen while the home’s occupants were asleep.

The crash is being investigated as a hit-and-run. Authorities say a passenger stayed in the vehicle, while the driver ran away.

The driver has been found, although his or her name has not yet been released. Both the driver and passenger were taken to a hospital to be treated for gas exposure.

A total of six homes were evacuated.
