Hope-area farmer Michael Ketner won third place at the 54th Farm Progress Show for his invention, the “seed stopper,” a device that saved soybeans from being spilled as planter boxes were filled.

1992

The Bill Monroe Bluegrass Museum and Hall of Fame opened and was dedicated on a 55-acre complex in Bean Blossom.

1967

Columbus architecture, referred to as “America’s greatest private collection of architecture,” was featured in an issue of Britain’s leading architectural magazine, The Architectural Review, and featured 10 local pictures and a map of the downtown area.
