Two arrested in armed robbery of Columbus home

Two people, one of them a 16-year-old juvenile, were arrested after an armed robbery reported in the 1600 block of Union Street.

Columbus Police officers were sent to the location at 11:50 a.m. Monday about a robbery with a weapon, and spoke to a homeowner who said he caught two people who broke into his detached garage, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

The two were taking the homeowner’s property, including a 60-inch television, and placing it in their vehicle, the homeowner said.

During the confrontation, the juvenile took a handgun form the pair’s vehicle, cocked the weapon and threatened to shoot the homeowner, Harris said. The two then fled the area.

Both were arrested and the stolen property, including the television, were recovered and returned to the victim, Harris said. Officers also recovered the weapon which turned out to be a BB gun.

Snyder was arrested on preliminary charges of felony burglary while armed with a deadly weapon and felony theft, Harris said.
