Police said in a statement Tuesday that the incident occurred around 9:20 Monday night when an officer stopped an SUV in an attempt to arrest a man for driving under the influence.
Police say the man “released his dog” from the vehicle and the dog “became aggressive” toward the officer, who fatally shot it.
The driver, 38-year-old Theodore Stephen Schlossman, was charged with driving under the influence, refusal to submit to breath analysis, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, possession of a schedule II narcotic, possession of marijuana and threatening the life of a law enforcement officer.
