DALLAS, Ga. — A woman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for a crash that killed two teenagers two years ago in northwest Georgia.
Paulding County District Attorney Dick Donovan told news outlets Wednesday that 24-year-old Sarah Elizabeth Dowdy was convicted in the 2015 fatal crash. Authorities say 18-year-old Janeal Priester and 17-year-old Nick Wright died in the crash.
The incident occurred when Janeal Priester, her 16-year-old brother Joshua Priester and Wright were traveling from the Priester’s home to visit their mother in the hospital. Dowdy was driving in excess of 75 mph before her vehicle struck Priester’s vehicle.
Joshua Priester was seriously injured and taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital.
Dowdy was convicted of felony vehicular homicide in the first degree, speeding, serious injury by vehicle and reckless driving.
