James Aaron Friedrich

James Aaron Friedrich, 69, of Columbus, died September 1, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

James graduated from Scecina High School in Indianapolis in 1966. He served as an M.P. in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. He was employed as an insurance underwriter for many years. Mr. Friedrich volunteered with the P.T.A.I. basketball program and Edgewood Little League Association.

He is survived by his children, Aaron (Amy) Friedrich and Bryan Friedrich, both of Indianapolis, and Jamie Friedrich of Washington, D.C.; grandchildren, Madeline and Jackson Friedrich; a sister, Paula (Zeke) Sandlin of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Friedrich; parents, James Edward and Alice Juanita (Day) Friedrich; and sister, Debby Beckley.

In keeping with James’ wishes, his body was donated to the Anatomical Education Program of the Indiana University School of Medicine.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Columbus, with Father James Brockmeier officiating. Friends and family may call from 9:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the NASCAR Foundation.
