ST. LOUIS — Authorities say a 16-year-old student has died after he was shot multiple times while standing at a school bus stop in St. Louis.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that police and school officials identified the teen shot Tuesday morning as James Scales.

Scales’ mother told police her son was shot at the bus stop and had run to his home in the same block before he collapsed. Police say the junior at Beaumont High School wasn’t breathing or conscious at the scene around 6:20 a.m. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police have released no additional details.
