SEATTLE — A teenager who was fatally stabbed in West Seattle Tuesday has been identified.

The Seattle Times reported Wednesday (https://goo.gl/LNGTr4 ) family members say Derek “Peachy” Juarez-Lopez was a 15-year-old poet who wrote about steering away from gangs and the importance of getting an education.

Family members say Juarez-Lopez died Tuesday afternoon during a second surgery at Harborview Medical Center, six hours after he was stabbed in the heart and abdomen by unknown assailants at Westcrest Park.

His sister, Italia Juarez-Lopez, says her brother called her after the incident, telling her he got jumped, was stabbed and was bleeding.

No one has been arrested.
