Brian’s picks – September 7

1) So maybe you appreciate the fine lines of the temporary artistic installation of “Conversation Plinth” at the Bartholomew County Public Library Plaza, 536 Fifth St. in Columbus. Now you can see it as an especially fashionable place to be at 6 p.m. today for a Style Show on the Plinth. The event will feature clothes from Minash Boutique, Lockett’s Ladies’ Shop, Boutique Elise and Red Lips Spatique. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Information: mybcpl.org.

2) Arkady Orlovsky led the Columbus Symphony Orchestra from 1993 to 2010, often with wife Tamara Orlovsky playing a dramatic and intense role on piano as a featured guest under the direction of his baton. The Orlovskys, now living in New York, return for a free, piano-and-cello concert from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 15 as part of Fridays at First, at First United Methodist Church, 618 Eighth St. in downtown Columbus. Orlovsky is a former cellist with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Information: 812-372-2851 or fumccolumbus.org.
