COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Eight Colorado Springs firefighters are moving from one big storm to another.

The Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/2xRn4Hr ) the Colorado Springs Fire Department received word Tuesday night the team, as part of Colorado Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue, would be headed to Alabama in preparation for Hurricane Irma.

They arrived in Texas more than a week ago to help with Harvey recovery efforts.

Irma is forecast to hit the U.S. mainland this weekend, possibly in south Florida.

The convoy was expected to stop in Russellville, Arkansas, on Wednesday night to rest. CO-TF1, a Federal Emergency Management Agency program, has been upgraded to an 80-person Type 1 Urban Search and Rescue team, with members trained in search and rescue, hazardous materials, medical and logistics.
