AUGUSTA, Ga. — One person has been found dead after a house fire in Georgia.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office tells news outlets that firefighters found the body at an Augusta residence on Hopie Road early Thursday morning.

Coroner Mark Bowen says the person was pronounced dead at 2:30 a.m., two hours after the fire was reported.

Bowen says the body is being sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for autopsy and positive identification.
