AUSTIN, Texas — Police say an Austin woman is accused of neglecting her 26-year-old son afflicted with cerebral palsy, leading to his death.

Erica Yanet Flores is being held in the Travis County Jail under $75,000 bond on a charge of injury to a disabled individual by omission.

The Austin American-Statesman reports Flores’ son was pronounced dead June 20 after emergency medical responders were called to her home. An autopsy report Aug. 29 ruled the death of her son, Edgar Carbajal, a homicide due to pneumonia caused by bacteremia “due to pressure ulcers from cerebral palsy.”

The nature of the neglect has not been disclosed.
